Euro Formula Ford is an affordable, competitive and “fun” open wheel series.
Choosing the FF was merely an outcome of researching a number of criteria, then choosing the direction;
  1. Must be open wheel
  2. Excellent car availability
  3. Parts and knowledge are readily available
  4. Average skill needed for setup and minor repairs
  5. Fairly easy and non time consuming prep between races
  6. Affordable to buy
  7. Affordable to campaign

Suffice to say, a FF on DOT tires has proven to be fun,
affordable and very, very competitive. During the 2006
season we grew from 2 cars to 15 cars. Now, at the end
of 2007 we have 25 cars that are on the tires. Not always
possible to get everyone to the track on the same weekend, and some cars are still under construction. It looks like we can count on about 50% participation, so we will keep trying to grow.

The 2008 season will be from January to December, instead of summer to summer. 2008 will also see us trying to have an event at PIR with a potential trip to Fontana, CA., but we need to keep the budget in mind. Traveling adds a lot to the annual budget, so we are looking for a sponsor to offset some of the travel expenses in lieu of prize money.

After racing 10 weekends, 4 sessions each day of the weekend, my total expenditure for tires (1 set), fuel, entry fee, miscellaneous parts, etc., totaled just over $6,000.00 (Engine reserve not included, but estimated at $1,750 for the year). 2006-2007 had 7 race weekends, and my total expenditure for the year; tires (1½ sets), entry fees, fuel, bits for the car totaled about $6,100. Over the summer we tore down the engine to rebuild after 2 full seasons (56 hours engine time). That alone is a tribute to Ivey Engines; he builds a terrific lump! We did find a cracked crank, so I sat out the remainder of the 2007 season saving up for the crank, pistons and fresh head.
